A Sassy YNAB Coaching Sales Page for Technically Maggie

The Client

When Maggie reached out to me on Instagram saying she needed help with a sales page for her YNAB coaching offer, I was so excited. No, excited is an understatement. Because I’m obsessed with YNAB, and I had a feeling that writing in Maggie’s voice was going to be *very* fun.

Spoiler: It absolutely was.

Maggie is a former teacher (like me!) who is passionate about supporting people in their mental health journey through systems. One of those systems? Budgeting!

The Backstory

After becoming a YNAB Certified Coach, Maggie began offering 1:1 budget coaching for new (or just struggling) users of the YNAB software.

But after almost a year of the offer existing and her website not reflecting that (been there!), she reached out to me. She was speaking at an upcoming conference and knew that this audience-building event was the moment she needed to have this page finally exist!

When I asked her why she’d decided to work with a copywriter, she said,  “I’ve sat down 100 times to write this and never have. Now I really need it.”

Sound familiar? 😅

So we teamed up to get her website conference-ready.

The Deliverables

One SEO-optimized sales page to promote Maggie’s YNAB coaching offer, plus a blurb for her homepage to drive traffic to the page.

The Goals (And how we crushed ‘em)

Our overall goals were to create a page that felt authentic to Maggie's honest, sassy voice while effectively communicating the value of her YNAB coaching services to teachers—and others outside of the teaching world—who are struggling with financial clarity and stress.

We also wanted to…

Frame YNAB coaching as a mental health solution to fit with the rest of her brand’s messaging

→ So I wrote…

Position Maggie as a relatable, no-BS YNAB coach

→ So I wrote…

Highlight the transformation her clients could experience

→ So I wrote…

Convince potential clients that yes—it *does* make sense to pay someone money to help you save more money

→ So I wrote…

Get the RIGHT people to inquire—Maggie works a full-time job and does not have time to meet with people who aren’t a good fit for her coaching offers (or style!)

→ So I wrote…

Get people to take the low-pressure next step of inquiring to see if YNAB Coaching would be a good fit for them

→ So I wrote…

The Favorite Lines

Just few pieces of copy that made me pause after writing them to say, “Damn, that’s good.”

Where you’ll find it: The Introduction section

Why I love it: Made up word! A little sassy! Conversational AF!

Because helping you set up a realistic and actually stick-with-it-able plan for your money using the best budget software on the planet? (Yeah, I’m looking at you, YNAB). That’s my specialty.

Where you’ll find it: The Risk Reversal section (currently not on the website)

Why I love it: Shows off Maggie’s personality! SASSY and FUNNY! But also reassures people about a very real hesitation!

This is a 100% judgment-free zone* and I’m not scared of showing you my very own (very real) budget.

*I mean, I might judge you if you have a cat, but that’s it.

The “PINCH ME” Moment

I knew I was going to love writing for Maggie when I saw these three things on her onboarding survey:

→ “Kill plants” - one of the things she “likes to do” in her spare time.

→ “Honest. Authentic. Organized. Sassy.” - how she describes her brand’s personality.

→ “Quoting anything Schitt's Creek (or Mean Girls, Ted Lasso, New Girl)” - re: her favorite pop culture references.

The Review

“I tried writing my sales page several times by myself but didn't know where to start. Caitie was able to ask thoughtful questions to get the information she needed in a way that never made me feel like I had to figure it out. It was great to have Caitie turn my ramblings into a cohesive sales page!”

The Shout Outs

The rest of Maggie’s website was written by the amazing Grace Griffith, and her branding and website design were previously done by the fabulous Stacy Aguilar! (Two more former teachers I’ve been lucky enough to work alongside in the past + learn from for years!)
